You Need to Get a Free Cash App Card Before You are Able to Receive Direct Deposits
By activating your Cash App Card, you will instantly see your account and routing numbers. To find and copy your account and routing number:
- Tap the “Banking tab” on Cash App’s home screen
- Below ‘More ways to add money’, tap ‘Direct Deposit’
- Tap ‘Get Free Cash Card’
2 Ways to Enable Direct Deposit through Cash App app (Automatic and Manual Set up)
Cash App lets you deposit, not only paychecks, but also your tax returns, and other payments, for instance from a side hustle. To enable direct deposits, you’ll have to first find your account and routing number.
After you set it all up, you’re able to receive up to $25,000 per direct deposit and up to $50,000 in a day.
These deposits are available as soon as you receive them, and even up to two days earlier than most banks. However, you should know that your first deposit might take a bit longer, depending on your employer.
So, how do we set up direct deposit?
When you order, get and activate your Cash Card, you will instantly see your new account and routing numbers. To find and copy your account and routing number:
- Tap the “Banking tab” on Cash App’s home screen
- Below your balance, tap the routing and account number
- Now, copy your account and routing numbers
- When prompted for a bank account during direct deposit set up, provide the account and routing number
To set it up with payroll login directly from the Cash App “Banking tab”:
- First, tap the “Banking tab” on Cash App’s home screen
- Select “Direct Deposit”
- Beneath “Automatic Setup”, tap “Get Started”
- Find your employer and follow the instructions
To get a direct deposit form:
- Tap the “Banking tab” on Cash App’s home screen
- Tap “Direct Deposit”
- Select “Get Direct Deposit Form”
- Fill out your employer information
- Enter the amount you want to deposit from each paycheck
- Sign
- Select “Email Form”
- Enter the recipient address
- Tap “Send”
You can see the completed direct deposit form by tapping “Get Direct Deposit Form” from the “Banking tab” and selecting “View Previous Form”.
How Long to Start Getting Direct Deposit to your Cash App Account
Cash App is really fast at depositing direct debits and they are typically available within 1-5 business days after being sent.
In most cases, that can be up to two days earlier than many “proper” banks. However, if it’s been more than 5 days, you might want to contact Cash App customer support.
The whole direct deposit process is quick, but the actual time it takes for the money to hit your Cash App account hinges on when the depositor, for instance, your employer, initiates the payment. There are other elements at play here as well, and they can also cause delays.
It may also take 2-4 billing cycles before you start getting direct deposits to your Cash App account. This is because the employer must update your new Direct Deposit details in their systems as well as in their bank.
