    • Why is my masking tape shredding off into tiny pieces while coming off the roll?

The natural latex adhesive on masking tape ages and dries out from prolonged exposure to the sun’s rays, heat or improper storage.

    • How can I remove a piece of Duck® brand Masking Tape from a surface?

First, try running a hair dryer or heat gun over the tape backing to warm and soften the adhesive. After a minute or two, you can peel the tape away. If the masking tape continues to stick to the surface, saturate the rubber adhesive with solvent and let it soak in for five to 10 minutes. Place a rag or towel over your index finger and rub the adhesive in a circular motion until it comes off.

For paper-backed tapes, like masking tape, you can apply the solvent directly to the tape and let it soak in. Scrape the tape off with a plastic scraper or a stiff-bristled brush.

    • How can I remove Duck® brand Masking Tape residue from a surface?

The key to removing rubber adhesive is to let the solvent do the work for you. The longer you let it soak, the easier it is to remove the adhesive. Five to 10 minutes is usually enough time. You can use Duck® brand Adhesive Remover to help remove any residue that is left behind, but remember to read instructions before using this product.

The difference is with the construction of the foam. Closed seal sponge tape uses a foam that will not let moisture or air pass through it providing a more complete barrier. Open foam will let moisture and some air through depending on the compression. Open foam is ideal for the use around window AC units as it will allow any moisture produced by the unit to evaporate without causing damage or allowing mold to grow.

    • Will the double-sided tape in Duck® brand window kits stick to my window frame or molding?

This tape is recommended for use on painted wood, finished/varnished wood, aluminum and vinyl.

    • My Duck® brand Indoor Window Shrink Kit fell off. What happened?

The two most common reasons are that the surface wasn't clean before you applied the tape or the surface is too cold for the tape to stick. The surface should be 40 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer to apply the tape. Also, use general purpose cleaner or alcohol based cleaner to ensure the surface is clean. Make sure that the surface temperature is at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer to apply the tape.

    • Can I use the Duck® brand Outdoor Window Kit inside?

It is not recommended to use the outdoor window kid inside mainly because of the tape used for each application. The outdoor kit tape is much stronger and, when used inside, it remains soft. Also, the tape may peel off paint and varnish or leave a very sticky residue when the tape is removed.

    • How can I help the Duck® brand Window Kit Tape stick to cold surfaces?

Follow these steps to help the tape stick to cold surfaces:

1.Heat the surface with a hair dryer. When temperatures drop below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, adhesives tend to harden and won't stick

2.Firmly press the tape on the surface before removing the release liner.

3.After removing the release liner, heat the tape with the hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

4.Position the plastic film over the window. Firmly press the plastic along the tape to secure it in place. Be careful not to over-shrink the film because this will put too much pressure on the tape and it will pull away from the window.

    • What is the easiest way to remove my Duck® brand Window Kit?

Before pulling off the plastic film, use a hair dryer to heat up the area where the double-sided tape is - this will soften the tape's adhesive. Once you've softened the adhesive pull off the plastic film. To remove any residue that may be left behind, let Duck® brand Adhesive Remover soak over the residue for about five to ten minutes before wiping clean.

    • What is the proper way to install the EPDM Seals?

Wash the mat in cold or warm water in your washing machine with a few towels to keep the mat from floating. After washing, hang your mat to dry in an open space to allow air to move freely around both sides of the mat. Do not put the mat back into your bathtub until it is dry.

    • Why is my Softex® bath mat changing colors?

If your mat is changing colors, this might indicate that you are not allowing the mat to be thoroughly dried after each use. For best results, remove your mat from the tub and hang dry in an open space, allowing air to move freely around both sides of the mat. Do not put the mat back into your bathtub when it is wet.

    • Why are the suction cups on my bath mat not staying in place on my tub?

First, be sure you do not have a textured surface on the bottom of your tub. Second, many cleaners will leave behind an invisible film on the bottom of your tub, which causes the suction cups not to hold properly. After cleaning your tub, wipe the bottom down with rubbing alcohol to remove any film left behind by the cleaner.

    • Can I cut my bath mat to better fit my shower or tub?

Bath mats cannot be cut to size as the suction cups are purposely arranged with safety in mind.

      3. With a flat tool (e.g. putty knife), slowly lift the end of the tub treads until they are completely removed. You may need to stop and repeat the warming process as you work to lift the tread (the softer the adhesive, the easier it will be to lift).
