How to Use a Mantra for Your Debt Payoff Journey (2024)

You’ve done it. You have decided to stop living like a broke person because you have to and are instead choosing to live like a broke person to get yourself out of debt because you want to.

It’s time for game-on. You are ready for this and have the intensity to fuel you.

As you may be familiar with, we are all super bad at keeping resolutions. Studies have shown, by January 15, 31.6% percent of people will have already quit their New Year’s Resolutions. This has become so consistent, the second Friday of January is even being called Quitter’s Day.

The exact same thing can and likely will happen when you decide to become debt free. You are going to be out of control motivated and focused when you start. But then, you will hit roadblocks. Things will come up that completely blow your budget, add stress and expenses to your life and even set you back substantially on your debt payoff journey.

These things will make you want to give up and just continue to live with the debt. It’s just easier that way, right?

Being someone who is looking at a 5-7 year debt payoff journey, I can tell you, you are going to need a mantra to get you through this.

A mantra can be a word or phrase that is used to motivate and inspire you to live the life of your dreams. It will encourage you when you need to focus on your goals. When you are on a debt free journey, you need to have a mantra to help keep you encouraged, motivated and inspired! The mantra I love is just one word, but for me, it is all-encompassing. When I hear this word, it is a trigger for every action I am taking and it re-centers my focus on what season of life we are in and what we are trying to achieve.

You may decide you want to come up with your own mantra and that is awesome. The point is, you should have a debt payoff mantra to help you along your journey.

You need to come up with a personal mantra that will help keep you focused and motivated along your journey to financial freedom. It can be one word, a phrase or a whole long quote. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it fires you up again and again.

You will need to post your mantra somewhere that you will see it on a daily basis. It will become part of your “self-talk” to allow for constant encouragement. It will help keep you moving toward the life you see for yourself.

You can spend some time thinking of your own, or you can use mine! There are some cute printables and wallpapers to use in your own home. You can get them below.
