Love Island couple Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury’s eerie silence over each other’s posts about huge life events has got followers in a frenzy.
Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have shared their life together with their fanbase on social media ever since they met in 2019 on series five of ITV ’s reality dating show Love Island. Influencer Molly regularly posts details on what she’s up to and products she’s promoting, while boxer Tommy, who has previously admitted he lacks patience for social media, posts only because he wants to keep his loyal fans updated.
So it’s no surprise that when things go quiet, their followers are the first to get suspicious. The couple are currently apart at a crucial time for the Fury family, as heavyweight champion Tyson prepares for his fight with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia. Tommy has headed out to support his brother, while his fiance and mother of his baby daughter Bambi, has jetted off to Ibiza for her sister’s hen do.
While there’s no expectation for Molly to be with him ringside, especially since she’s openly admitted hating boxing, their separation has fans fearing they've secretly split. Here we take a look at all the times the couple’s posts, and lack of them, have concerned their followers, from a lonely pregnancy to Tommy’s partying with Chris Brown and recent radio silence on life events.
Dec 2022: A lonely pregnancy
A heavily pregnant Molly-Mae admitted that her fiancé’s career as a boxer took its toll on her when she was expecting. With Tommy away training for a fight, Molly was left alone as she waited for the arrival of their first child. She shared: "Other women have these dream pregnancies, where they are always with their husband doing baby shopping and cute things, and me and Tommy literally just communicate through FaceTime at this point," she said, adding, "It’s been a stressful last couple of months, because obviously Tommy’s been in camp and I’ve literally been by myself."
Aug 2023: Tommy moves out
Molly admits she’s feeling down as Tommy had moved out of their house to go into another training camp for a few months. With daughter Bambi being just seven months old, Molly was left alone again to cope. She took to her YouTube channel and shared how she was feeling, saying: "Today is a little bit of a... I guess you can say a bit of a sad day in a way, because Tommy has gone into his official camp today. He has basically been in camp for the last few weeks but now he has gone into camp where he has essentially now moved out the house for quite a long time now actually."
Nov 2023: Chris Brown party gate
Tommy is pictured clubbing with notorious bad-boy rapper Chris Brown and surrounded by women during a trip to Abu Dhabi, where he spent the weekend. In one TikTok clip shared online he is seen dancing closely behind a woman who turns around and squeezes his face before he turns his back on her.
After sharing his own picture from the United Arab Emirates, fans hit out at the boxer for not "spending any time" with his family. The clip of Tommy partying sparked further speculation, with one Instagram user telling him: "Please explain the video circling on social media please." The short video showed Tommy and Chris dancing to Talibans by Byron Messia in what appeared to be a lavish nightclub. A second video saw the pair enjoying drinks, with X (formerly Twitter ) users poking fun at his sporting prowess, claiming his dance moves were "out of time" like his punches.
Meanwhile Molly noticeably removed her £600,000 engagement ring and shared a cute clip to her story alongside the couple's 10-month old daughter, Bambi. They were seen enjoying some festive fun together as she gripped the tot on Santa's sleigh.
She later posted on her YouTube vlog, again without her ring, and seemingly addressed the scandal: "I have been going through it in more ways than one," she said. "I am hoping, in say about a week, I might be in a place mentally, physically, emotionally where I can start filming some proper content for you guys again and get back on my channel. So please bear with me, I am really desperate to come back to you guys."
As fans feared for their future, a source told The Sun at the time the reality star had demanded he change his lifestyle: "Molly has made no secret of the fact she doesn’t like it when Tommy parties too hard. This weekend has ended up being a real embarrassment to her," the source said. "She was mortified when she kept getting tagged in videos while she was just trying to enjoy a festive weekend with Bambi."
Dec 2023: No sunshine and roses
Deciding to get back online, Molly answered fans’ questions in a Q&A and naturally was bombarded with a ton of questions about her relationship. She appeared to admit there had been issues when she said: "Everyone has things they deal with in their relationships or in their own lives, but sometimes it’s slightly tricky when things aren’t always going to be perfect, and things aren’t always going to be sunshine and roses.
"But when they aren’t you have millions of people giving their opinion on it and talking about it. You can’t have a relationship or a life in the public eye and not expect things to be in the public eye and be spoken about when things don’t always go to plan."
Feb 2024: 'So many problems'
Following a couple of months where they appeared to be back on track, Molly revealed something had been rocking their relationship for a while. In a YouTube video, she explained that she had been left worried sick after the boxer needed surgery on his hand - which had caused an issue for them as a couple.
Speaking out about their relationship woes, Molly who was sitting with Tommy said: "You've been going through it recently haven't you [Tommy]. Tommy's had surgery on his hand, he has needed this surgery for as long as we can remember, 2019. He had this injury that no one knew about. He didn't share it with anyone and even with training through the Jake Paul stuff, I wrote a caption on Instagram saying like 'We went through some really hard times as a family' and I feel like the injury was just always causing us so many problems and was always there, but we never spoke about it."
8 May 2024: Birthday snub
Molly appeared to ignore her fiancé's birthday when she failed she share a tribute to him. She was noticeably quiet on her social media as her partner marked his 25th birthday, having shared gushing posts in previous years. Eagle-eyed fans picked up on the fact Molly-Mae failed to acknowledge the big day, despite sharing daily updates into her life. Tommy also stayed quiet on his birthday and took to social media 24 hours later to share footage with their daughter. The dad-of-one enjoyed a slice of cake as Bambi, one, sat on his knee. However, Molly-Mae was nowhere to be seen in the snaps shared on his account.
11 May 2024: Molly's solo trip
Molly fuelled rumours of a split after jetting off to Dubai without Tommy, following days of silence on social media. The star had taken a break from her socials for a few days and had also stayed quiet over Tommy's announcement that he will be starring in a comedy movie, called The Debt Inherited, as he steps from the boxing ring to the big screen.
The reality star returned to social media when she posted clips from her break in Dubai, where she stayed at the opulent, Atlantis The Royal hotel. She shared solo snaps of her in the apartment, which also didn't feature her daughter Bambi, and seemed to suggest that she had travelled to Dubai alone.
14 May 2024: Fight ready
Tommy revealed he had also jetted off to Dubai to support his older brother Tyson before his next huge fight. Taking to Instagram, the professional boxer shared photos of himself from the UAE as he wrote: "The calm before the storm. Ready for the best week, let’s go @tysonfury."
Molly-Mae wasn't included in the post, nor did she like or comment on the post, which led fans to further speculate on her whereabouts after she'd remained silent on social media and YouTube for a week. One commented: "This feels so weird . Where is Molly-Mae guys." While another commented: "There's something going on here with him and Molly-Mae and I don't like it one bit."
Someone else speculated: "Guys, I feel like they have broken up. Something bad seems to have happened and I can just feel it." Elsewhere, another argued: "Omg just because they don't post one another doesn't mean they're not together and still madly in love. Everyone needs to butt out."
15 May 2024: Shut down
Molly-Mae revealed she is heading to Ibiza rather than Saudi Arabia where the Furys will be. She took to her Instagram stories to share her preparations for her sister Zoe Hague's hen do and posted a snap of her new manicure. In five words she appeared to shut down any rumours of a split and wrote: "Did someone say hen do? @zoehague."
Her sister elaborated and revealed the group of 13 women were heading to Ibiza for three nights, writing: "Molly was the main planner along with the help of a few others I'm sure!! So absolutely no doubt it's going to be incredible!!"
