REU

Program description

The Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program (REU) was created in the summer of 1998 to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to pair up with a faculty mentor to work on a research project over the course of the summer and learn what it is like to be a graduate student. From 2002 to 2010 the REU program was funded by the National Science Foundation because of the program’s focus on preparing undergraduate students for graduate school. The last summer in which it served as a standalone program was 2016. Thus the REU program ran for 24 years and had over 200 undergraduate participants.
