One of the joys of exploration in Bethesda RPGs is that, often enough, there are places you stumble on that happen to be part of a quest you may have missed. Obviously, it doesn’t need to stay that way. If you’ve found or are looking for the location of Starstation RE-939 in Starfield and want to know if there’s a quest involved, we have your answer.

The location of Starstation RE-939 isn’t far off from your first starting point in Starfield. You can find it in the Alpha Centauri system, near Olivas’ moon of Voss. Take care if you plan on visiting; there may be a small snake infestation.

What Starfield quest is tied to Starstation RE-939?

It’s funny because I completely missed the RE-939 quest, even though it was nearly handed to me at the beginning. During your first visit to the city of New Atlantis, do you happen to remember passing by a group of folks who sounded like they just survived an attack? Well, they did. They’re the survivors of a Va’Ruun Zealot attack on Starstation RE-939. One of them is Dr. Ricardo Bosch, whom you can reconnect with later once he’s settled into his new home.

To find the Starstation RE-393 quest, you need to track down Dr. Bosch. Go to the MAST district and head into the MAST HQ — the giant, blue tower that’s impossible to miss. Go inside and take the elevator to ‘Defense Research / Health and Human Services / Aegis’. Walk through the door just slightly to the left. The sign above it reads ‘Defense Research & Initiatives Program’. Go in and walk around until you see Dr. Bosch. I found him chilling next to a shooting range. Speak with him and he’ll mention a slate. Tell him you can retrieve it, and that begins the ‘Retrieve Ricardo Bosch’s Slate’ activity.

Slate and Skill Magazine location

Other than the quest, you can track down a Skill Magazine in Starstation RE-939. But first, you have to club some snakes (so to speak). The place is crawling with Va’Ruun Zealots, who have been occupying the place since they ousted Dr. Bosch and his team. To find the slate quickly, enter the station via the door at the bottom level marked ‘Entrance’. Doing so places you in a direct path to Lab 01, where the slate is found on the desk.

The Skill Magazine is all the way upstairs in the Living quarters. To get there quickly, turn around and exit the lab. Walk upstairs to the second level and turn heel. Hug the right wall and go under the Living section until you see a door with ‘Living’ above it. The staircase behind the door takes you up.

Kill all the Zealots upstairs, including the Va’Ruun elite. Head around until you get to the viewing window you likely first saw when you walked into the station. Look for the security room. It has a computer panel and a Science Crate. The skill magazine, “The New Atlantian 02 (grants the Panache food item recipe),” is on the desk.

Where to find contraband on Starstation RE-939

Starstation RE-939 includes some more goodies if you’re intoshadier merchandising. It seems as if some of the Starstation RE-939 scientists were up to something a bit naughty: Illegal contraband. I found two locations. First, check out the locked door in Lab 02. It’s an Expert lock, so you’ll need at least two points in the Security Skill. Take a left after leaving the locked room and exit through Lab 03. Take the stairs you see and turn left when you reach the top. Walk forward, all the way to the end of the path, and enter the room to the right of the Living area. Against the wall is a shelf near the tanks is more contraband.

Keep in mind that contraband is illegal inStarfield. If you want to deal in the business without getting busted, you need to know how to hide it on your ship and what stores will take the stuff off your hands. Check out ourguide on how to sell contrabandif you don’t know how to do it yet.

Reward for completing ‘Retrieve Ricardo Bosch’s Slate’

There’s not much else to the starstation beyond fresh Va’Ruun corpses to loot, along with some credsticks and digipicks. Once you have the slate and Skill Magazine, it’s best to return to Dr. Bosch for your reward. He handed me over 4,300 credits and his warmest thanks. What a nice guy.
